C-Mac praises 'great' Mets signing with Luis Severino one-year deal

Luis Severino is off to Queens on a one-year deal with the Mets, and C-Mac loves the move for New York.

"I'm confused by anyone who has a problem with this deal," C-Mac said. "You're expecting [Yoshinobu] Yamamoto. You're expecting big moves…but this is what you get when you have the richest owner in baseball. You can make moves like this. This is a terrific move for the Mets.

"See if it sticks. If it doesn't, bye. Thirteen million dollars is nothing for the Mets. This isn't the Pittsburgh Pirates…this is a guy who has pitched in this city and pitched in the postseason…I understand he's coming off a miserable, disgusting year…but you got the upside of possibly having an ace-like pitcher going into a rotation where you don't have a rotation. You have Senga, Quintana, and that's it."

Severino had a brutal season last year, despite being relatively healthy, pitching to a 6.65 ERA over 18 starts. But, when healthy, Severino has been a quality pitcher, and C-Mac says it's worth a shot.

"I think his ERA from last year was an anomaly," C-Mac said. "I think he's a good pitcher."
