C-Mac sounds off on Jeff McNeil, 'one of the worst everyday players in baseball'

Jeff McNeil went 0-for-5 with a pair of strikeouts in Monday’s loss to the Phillies, dropping his season batting average to a miserable .230 for the former batting champ.

C-Mac can’t stand to watch McNeil in the box anymore, but unfortunately for the Mets, he says there is no other option at the moment.

“He stinks….right now, he’s killing them,” C-Mac said. “If I had a better option, I’d play him, but you don’t, because Wendle sucks just as badly, or worse.”

Wendle is batting just .235 with a .522 OPS in just 34 at-bats, and has never been known for his bat. McNeil is expected to be a force at the plate, even if it doesn’t come with a lot of power. But for the second straight season, he has been a zero, and C-Mac doesn’t see an immediate alternative that the Mets can turn to.

“You’re not gonna play Vientos at second base. I don’t know what you can do,” C-Mac said. “But I think he’s bad. I think he’s hurting them. I think he’s one of the worst everyday players in baseball. I can’t watch his at-bats anymore.”
