Caller proposes Edwin Diaz for Spencer Jones trade to C-Mac: 'It's not crazy'
A caller proposed to C-Mac a trade where the Mets send Edwin Diaz to the Yankees for top prospect Spencer Jones, but C-Mac quickly shot it down.
But after the initial rejection, C-Mac admitted that there was some intrigue to the idea.
"No," C-Mac first said. "It depends on where they are, and Diaz does have controllable years.
"It's not crazy if he returns to being the best reliever in the game…it's not a rental. I guess it's not crazy because of the years of control."
C-Mac doesn't want to part with Jones, but with Clay Holmes being a bit of an unknown, having one of the best closer in the game on a team that looks ready to compete is an enticing idea.
"Three and a half years of the best closer in baseball, if that's what you believe he'll be, isn't a bad return for your top prospect," C-Mac said.
