As of Wednesday morning, the Mets and Carlos Correa had not resolved a new deal, but Correa seemed to be in a New York state of mind on Tuesday.
The star shortstop, who had previously agreed to a 12-year, $315 million deal with the Mets, posted a photo on his Instagram page of himself holding his young son Kylo, who was wearing an "I love NY" shirt.
"Going to work with daddy today," the caption read, as Correa held his infield glove while both he and Kylo sported eye black.
The New York attire immediately fueled speculation that Correa is still going to wind up in Queens despite concerns from the team over Correa's medicals, similar to the concerns the Giants had before that deal fell apart, allowing Steve Cohen to swoop in. According to reports, Correa is currently not engaging with other teams on a potential deal, with Correa's camp telling other interested parties that the Mets remain the top choice.
