Max Scherzer was at the center of controversy during Wednesday's Mets-Dodgers game as he was ejected in the fourth inning for having rosin on his glove — a violation of the sticky substance rules.
The ejection came as Craig and Evan were live on the air as both afternoon hosts were able to provide their genuine reaction to the breaking news.
Both immediately raised suspicion that the Dodgers may have asked the umps to check Scherzer.
"I find that intriguing because you know who Max played for a year-and-a-half ago? The Dodgers," said Evan.
"So, in other words, if Max were a guy who was using a substance on his hand, the Dodgers would clearly know about it because he played for them," Craig added.
"His manager was Dave Roberts," Evan replied. "It was only a cople years ago."
The guys also wondered if Scherzer had a strong enough reaction, if this would warrant a suspension and why Buck Showalter did not fight harder for Scherzer.
