The Mets issued a very short statement on Wednesday regarding the outcome of Carlos Correa negotiations, which resulted in the star shortstop signing with the Twins, while New York didn’t top Minnesota’s deal in terms of guaranteed money amid concerns regarding his physical.

“We were unable to reach an agreement,” the statement read. “We wish Carlos all the best.”

For Craig Carton, Mets fans deserve a little more than that.

“I feel like they kind of owe Mets fans something,” Craig said, clarifying that he feels the organization owes the fanbase an explanation as to what happened, and why they wouldn’t offer more to Correa, who reportedly preferred the Mets and playing alongside his close friend Francisco Lindor.

“The one question I would have,” Evan replied. “Why were you not willing to further in terms of money over a shorter period of time to try to make the deal? I think it’s a fair question. I don’t think anybody’s going to answer it.”

Aside from that lone question, Evan is fully prepared to move on, and say goodbye to the three-week era of Correa’s Mets tenure, that never became official.

“At some point, and for me, it’s happening now, it’s over,” Evan said. “They had him for 19 days, I was excited for 19 days, they had him, they were concerned about his ankle, and I gotta move on.”
