Craig Counsell weighing options after speaking with Mets, Guardians: Report

Craig Counsell's contract is officially over with the Brewers, and he reportedly has already spoken to teams that are interested his services as manager.

According to MLB Network's Jon Morosi, Counsell has spoken with the Mets and Guardians about their managerial vacancies, and is now "evaluating his options" as to where he will continue his career.

Per Morosi, a return to Milwaukee is still on the table.

The Mets had been granted permission by the Brewers to speak with Counsell before his contract expired, and Cleveland did the same with Terry Francona calling it a career.

New York has obvious ties to Counsell given the addition of David Stearns as president of baseball operations, and Stearns quickly decided that Buck Showalter would not return for the final year of his contract with the Mets.

Counsell's Brewers won the NL Central this season, but were bounced in the Wild Card Series.
