Former Mets star Daniel Murphy is coming back to New York.

The 2015 NLCS MVP, who hasn’t played in the major leagues since 2020, has signed to play with the independent Long Island Ducks.

The 37-year-old, after a 12-year career that included three All-Star selections and two Silver Slugger awards, will be suiting up in the Atlantic League in 2023.

“This game is part of my soul,” Murphy said in a Ducks press release. “And my passion for playing grew as great as ever when I discovered certain things that I believe will enable me to be productive on the field again.”

Murphy played his first seven big league seasons with the Mets, earning an All-Star nod in 2014 before having a 2015 postseason for the ages, helping lead New York to a World Series appearance. He then signed with the rival Nationals and earned two more All-Star selections before calling it quits after playing 40 games in the pandemic shortened 2020 season with the Rockies.
