Mets History: David Wright's big World Series moment came on this day in 2015

Game three of the World Series concluded on Friday night, but on this day in 2015, game three of the Fall Classic went through Citi Field.

And David Wright had the place rocking.

On this day six years ago, the Mets captain, who had battled back from spinal stenosis, which would eventually end his career, earlier that season, went deep to put New York ahead in game three and put Citi Field up for grabs.

Trailing the Royals 1-0 in the bottom of the first and 2-0 in the series, the Mets badly needed a spark, and Wright, as he did so often in his Mets career, delivered, sending an 0-1 fastball over the wall in left to put the Mets in front 2-1.

Five innings later, Wright came up big again, lining a bases-loaded single up the middle to plate two and extend New York's lead to 8-3.

The Mets won the game, the only one they would win all series, but it was a highlight moment for Wright, finally playing in a World Series and making the most of his moment. He finished with five hits in that Fall Classic.
