Did former Mets outfielder Billy Hamilton just make the catch of the year…in spring training?
In the Mariners' spring contest with the Rockies on Friday night, the speedy Hamilton ran back to the left-center field wall, scaled it like Ken Griffey Jr. or Bo Jackson, and snagged what would have been a home run off the bat of Elias Diaz.
Hamilton is trying to make the major league roster, though his offense has always been an issue. But his speed has never been in question, and his glove was on full display Friday night.
