Neal in Toms River called in to Boomer and Gio on Monday morning to sound off on the state of the Mets at he, at 80 years old, doesn't know if he can afford to wait for the team to start over under David Stearns.
"I'm 80 years old. I can't wait two, three, or four years," Neal said. "They might not do anything while I'm still alive.
"I can't wait 2-3 years to rebuild!"
Gio, while he understood the frustration, had some bad news for Neal.
"You saw '69, you saw '86. You might not see another one," Gio said. "I'm sorry. But the Mets aren't in their offseason thinking to themselves, 'We gotta have a better offseason because we've got old Mets fans that may die before they see a championship. That's not how they operate.'"
