As Mets fans continue to dream about poaching Juan Soto from the Yankees next winter, C-Mac says the vibe of a big-market team continuing to fantasize about players that aren't on their team yet is something that should embarrass Mets fans.
"Focusing on whether or not the Mets are gonna sign Juan Soto is embarrassing…that's a year away," C-Mac said. "Does this season mean nothing for the Mets?
"'We're gonna get Juan Soto, don't worry, we're gonna spend all the money next year.' Next year, next year, next year. It would drive me nuts as a Met fan, having the richest owner in sports, all my hopes and aspirations…everything is about next year."
C-Mac says the focus for the Mets should be on this season, but clearly, David Stearns and company are fine with punting and hoping to compete for a final Wild Card spot just one year after posting the highest payroll in league history.
But don't worry, Soto could be on the team by 2025.
"Oh great, you might have some coo next year," C-Mac said. "In the meantime, he's playing in the Bronx…it would offend me as a Mets fan that this is what we're focusing on. That this is my joy."
