Shaun Morash thinks trading Pete Alonso is right move for Mets - and Evan Roberts VEHEMENTLY disagrees

If you know ANYTHING about Evan Roberts, it's how deep his Mets loyalty runs – but in a segment during Monday's show where he and Shaun Morash were debating whether or not Pete Alonso is overrated, Evan was just DONE with hearing about Alonso trade rumors.

"We look at every reason why they suck, and you put it on the guy who deserves less of the blame than most," Evan said.

Shaun, however, completely disagrees.

"They have no heart, and Pete Alonso was supposed to be the heart of this whole thing. And if it's not his problem, then whose is it?" Mraz asked. "And, find me where to deal them so they can get the haul of players back."

Both men agree that simply, the Mets need better players, and Evan begrudgingly admitted that 'to get better players, you trade your best players for prospects."

Not what you want, to steal a phrase from an old friend, but as Mraz said, "it's uncomfortable, but it's the right thing to do, and you finally have competent ownership that's telling you that's what they should do."

And that's when Evan could've relented and noted that whatever the Mets could get for one year of Alonso this winter is going to be more useful than Polar Bear's own production in a year where the Mets will be re-tooling…and could probably bring back Alonso as a free agent after 2024 anyway.

Could've, because he had one simple word for Mraz: "Disagree."
