Evan: Evaluation time is over for Mets, time to buy in on this group
After the Mets knocked around the Yankees yet again on Wednesday night, Evan declared that it is officially time to buy into the 2024 Metropolitans, and enjoy the ride that this team is taking the fanbase on right now.
"For my fellow Mets fans, stand up! It's a Mardi Gras!" Evan said. "The New York Mets beat the daylights out of the New York Yankees.
"The Mets never do this to the New York Yankees. They never do this, ever!"
Earlier in the season, Tiki said that the Mets were in an "evaluation" period, as first-year president of baseball operations David Stearns would have time to see who on the roster was worth keeping around and investing in, and which players were not going to be part of the team's rebuild.
Now, Evan says that part of the season is done, and it's time to go for it with the trade deadline less than a week away.
"It's been two months of this, and I'm giddy," Evan said. "I look at this team and say, 'We are good.' It is time to retire 'It's an evaluation year.' It's gone, dude. Evaluation completed. Go win.
"On July 25, the evaluation is over."
Tiki agrees, and while the evaluation avenue was relevant before this drastic turnaround, it is now time to buy into these Mets, and it shouldn't be hard for the fans to do so.
"It's also fun…it's been fun to watch it," Tiki said. "It's engaging. If I wasn't a Yankee fan, I could see why people would gravitate toward this team.
"You look at the Mets lineup, and it feels like you can gravitate towards every story that is there…every one of these stories, from Alvarez to Vientos, they're all interesting. Evan Tyrone Taylor!"
