Evan takes issue with Steve Cohen calling for 'positivity' from Mets fans

Steve Cohen posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) that he would like to see fans bring a more positive atmosphere to Citi Field when it comes to responding to slumping players like Francisco Lindor, noting that it worked in Philadelphia last season, when the slumping Trea Turner heard organized cheers of encouragement from Phillies fans just before taking off at the plate.

Evan didn't like the Mets owner taking this route at all.

"I like Steve Cohen. I really do," Evan said. "But that tweet he put out this weekend, it actually put me off a little bit.

"I'm glad you love the idea, but there's no one going to the game. And those that are going to the game, don't tell us how we should act. I'm not a booer, so it's not like I'm defending myself, and Lindor is not getting booed! What are we talking about?"

Evan hasn't noticed much booing at Citi Field geared towards Lindor, and he certainly doesn't want Mets fans to be taking cues from the Phillies faithful.

"It feels like it's a made-up thing. What are we talking about?" Evan said. "Lindor is not getting booed.

"Look, you did a really cute thing for Trea Turner. He's soft, so he needed it. You made him happy and you had your little run. Why do we have to incorporate your dopey things? We don't need it, and Lindor doesn't need that."
