Evan insists he can get major league hitters out after watching Luis Guillorme pitch

Luis Guillorme came on for the Mets during Monday’s blowout loss to the Brewers and pitched a scoreless inning.

If a position player can toss a clean frame, why not Evan?

“I believe I could get major league hitters out,” Evan said. “How did Luis Guillorme just get major league hitters out? He’s throwing like 75 mph…I’ll throw softer.

“He got pop-ups. The truth is, I’m gonna get a couple line drives at people, but early on, I’m gonna get high pop-ups because guys aren’t gonna know what to do with it.”

Craig couldn’t believe his co-host’s confidence, but Evan wasn’t backing down. In fact, he wanted Craig to give Aaron Boone a call to give him and his heater a shot against the Bronx Bombers.

“Give me the Yankee order,” Evan said. “I’ll get [Aaron] Judge, [Giancarlo] Stanton and [Anthony] Rizzo out. Let’s go. I’ll face Judge.

“For one turn around the order, they would be so not used to seeing that velocity, I’d confuse them and get them out.”

Craig wasn’t buying it, but he wasn’t putting any respect on the former Cy Young winner of the WFAN baseball league, where Evan fanned 16 batters in one game.
