Evan is in a bad way after watching the Mets blow three straight three-run leads in a disastrous sweep at the hands of the rival Braves.
Evan puts the bulk of the blame on New York's two aging aces, who have looked to be at the end of their careers rather than still having has in the tank for a World Series run. For Evan, the struggles of Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer, which were on full display in Atlanta, have even ruined his excitement for the upcoming Jets season, as Gang Green will also be leaning on a future Hall of Famer in the likely twilight of his storied career.
"This affects me with Aaron Rodgers," Evan said. "I think of Verlander, that stiff. I think of Scherzer, that stiff…and they've all failed. All of them. So, what's really pissed me off about this sweep at the hands of the Braves, is that not only does it kill me as a Mets fan…it's even seeped into my love of the Jets."
Evan has another couple months before worrying about how Rodgers will hold up, so for now, he is forced to watch the Mets every night, wondering if they'll ever turn this season around.
"The Mets are killing me. They're killing all of us!" Evan said. "But we're all gonna watch, and we're all gonna get kicked in the balls again."
