Evan says Mets team of last 11 games is more likely what they are: 'We have ourselves a season'
Evan opened Tuesday's show with another message to Mets fans who were ready to bury the season after one week and five straight losses to start the season.
"You're gonna be wrong," Evan said. "And you're wrong right now."
Evan says the Mets, winners of eight of their last 11, suddenly seem like a team that is never out of it, as they erased an early 3-0 deficit on Monday against the Pirates. The atmosphere at Citi Field sounds different, the team's fight looks different, and now, the season feels different than it did a week ago. In fact, it feels much more like what Evan thought it would feel before the season started.
"It's not just the Mets have won eight of 11…it's the way they're doing it," Evan said. "It's the fact that you fight back…this Mets team is fighting, this Mets team is good, and I, as a Mets fan, just want to say 'I told you so.'
"We have ourselves a season…I think what we've seen over the last 11 games is more likely what they are. So I don't look at them as a .500 team."
