Gio: Mets simply looking like better team than Phillies right now

As Gio watched the Mets roll to a game three victory over the Phillies on Tuesday night, he realized he was watching a team that is simply better than their opponent, who were considered a trendy World Series favorite entering the season and the playoffs.

“They were the better team by a mile last night,” Gio said. “Sean Manaea, the offense not letting up and tacking on…this was awesome, and in front of all those Mets fans that were maybe like me and thought they were dead…but everyone was on the same page last night.

“It was just a tremendous, spectacular night in Queens.”

The Mets left no doubt at Citi Field on Tuesday, jumping out to a 2-0 lead off two home runs from Pete Alonso and Jesse Winker, while Sean Manaea silenced the Philly bats for 7-plus innings. It did not feel like a team simply getting hot at the right time. It felt like a team that had found its best version of itself, and that version is better than the NL East champs.

“I was watching this team beat up on the Phillies, and going, ‘They’re better. They’re the better team,’” Gio said. “They believe, They’re back home, the starting pitching has been amazing, and guys in the lineup from top to bottom are coming up clutch.

“I know how good the Phillies are, but this version of the Mets is better than the Phillies.”
