Gio: Was Mets team meeting actually sparked by bad Francisco Lindor news?

The Mets picked up yet another win on Tuesday night, after it was revealed that a team meeting was held the day before in the wake of Francisco Lindor missing another game with back troubles.

The Mets have publicly stated their hope that the MVP candidate will be back in the lineup by Thursday, but Gio wonders if the timing of the team meeting suggests a more ominous outlook.

"It concerns me just a little bit. Maybe they know something that we don't," Gio said. "I don't know, but I'm gonna think positive."

Pete Alonso spoke up at the meeting and responded with a home run and five RBI in Tuesday's win, which was the good news. The Braves and Diamondbacks both losing to further solidify the Mets' current playoff spot was the great news. But Gio hopes it wasn't all privately preceded by the bad news of Lindor's back injury, given how crucial he is to the team's success.

"I'm just asking a question," Gio said. "This team meeting seems to have worked out and I'm glad Alonso got up there. But is it a little concerning that the general manager and manager felt they had to talk to the team about Francisco Lindor being out? To me, that makes me think they know it's worse than they want to say, and they want to get the team in the right mind frame to not have him around.

"I just felt a little weird about that. That's all."
