Gio has already said he wasn't going to let the Mets ruin his summer, but as the losses continue, the bad vibe in Queens has metaphorically breached Gio's own home.
Gio is now comparing the Mets to having a sick child at the house, where you have to love them despite wanting to keep your distance for the sake of your own well being.
"Another horribly played, ugly, sloppy game," Gio said after Wednesday's loss to the Astros. "It's gotten to the point where you just want to avoid them like they're the sick child in your house…you just don't want to be around them. You love them, but you really don't want to be around them."
Simply put, Gio says the 2023 Mets are a "joke."
"They're a joke," Gio said. "It's pathetic, and it just gets worse and worse."
