More Mets reinforcements are on the way back.

Manager Luis Rojas told reporters on Saturday that Jeff McNeil, who has been nursing a strained hamstring since May 16, will be back with the team on Monday and will start one of the team’s two games in their doubleheader against the Braves.

McNeil continued his rehab assignment on Friday night and hit a home run for Triple-A Syracuse.

“I think the plan is to give him a day off today…maybe DH tomorrow over there, but he won’t be active tomorrow,” Rojas said. “We will probably see him Monday starting one of the doubleheaders back in New York. That’s the plan right now.”

In 99 at-bats before his injury, McNeil was slashing .242/.336/.374 with three home runs, and his bat will be a welcomed sight for an offense that was shut out again on Friday.

“Everything is progressing well to this point,” Rojas said. “Yesterday he had a really good day and is feeling good at the plate. I talked to him on the phone yesterday, and everything is where it should be. The rehab assignment has gone well. He’ll have his final day today or tomorrow, but he’ll have a day off one of those days.”

Another reinforcement will be back even sooner, as Albert Almora Jr., who has been out for the past five weeks after suffering a shoulder contusion as a result of crashing into the outfield wall, will be activated for the second game of the Mets doubleheader in Washington on Saturday.
