Joe Benigno isn’t letting the pain of Sunday’s game two loss take away his belief in the Mets advancing to their first NLCS appearance since 2015.
But he fully expects the next three games to be a dogfight, and sees it coming down to a decisive game five back in Philly, and expects it to come down to Edwin Diaz on the mound at the end of a close game.
“They’re not playing the White Sox in August...they’re playing this big-time team,” Joe said. “Did you expect to sweep this team?
“I fully expect they will have to win game five in Philadelphia. I’d love to see them come home and wrap it up. Citi Field is gonna be insane...but I fully expect it. There’s nothing easy. I fully expect it will come down to game five in Philadelphia.”
A game five in Philly would be a daunting task, as the Phillies have loads of recent playoff experience and would have home field advantage, but regardless of how much the odds are against the Mets, Joe says it would be foolish to doubt them in that situation.
“I think it’s gonna come down to game five in Philadelphia, and I have tremendous confidence in this team,” Joe said. “How could you not?”
