The Mets have just begun to get some offensive reinforcements back in recent days, but they now will have to wait and hope that another key contributor won’t be the latest entry to the IL.

Jonathan Villar was removed from Wednesday’s game in the sixth inning, which the team announced shortly after as a result of right hamstring tightness.

Villar was replaced by Travis Blankenhorn, who moved to second base in a switch with Jose Peraza.

Villar, batting leadoff and playing third base, was 2-for-4 with a single, a double and two runs scored. He has played strong defense at the hot corner for the Mets, who are still without J.D. Davis and Luis Guillorme.

In 44 games this season, Villar holds a .722 OPS and has reached base in seven straight games, batting .333 with a home run in that span.
