Keith: Francisco Lindor should win NL MVP over Shohei Ohtani

The Mets were one inning away from a no-hit loss on Wednesday afternoon, until Francisco Lindor smashed an 0-2 fastball over the right field wall for a no-doubt home run to tie the game and spark a six-run rally that turned into a thrilling win.

It was Lindor's 31st home run of the season, and Keith says it is another stake in Lindor's claim to win the National League MVP over Shohei Ohtani.

"Lindor is like that. He's been worth every penny," Keith said. "I understand when guys are a cut above, when they have the clutch gene.
Lindor is like that. Give him his respect.

"He's not even just putting up the numbers. He should have been an All-Star this year. He should be the MVP."

Lindor is widely seen as the eventual MVP runner-up to Ohtani, who homered for his career-high 47th blast hours after Lindor's heroics, and he stole another base for No. 48, inching closer to a historic 50/50 season. But Keith says Lindor is his MVP.

"He is the alpha. The leader. The captain. He put the team on his back," Keith said. "We don't care so much about Shohei Ohtani going for 50 homers and 50 steals on a loaded team that didn't need him. He's KD going to the Warriors. Lindor is everything to the Mets."
