Keith McPherson was live on air when the Mets dropped their series finale to the Brewers, as Starling Marte struck out on three pitches with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.
The loss dropped New York to nine games back of a playoff spot, and Keith is running out of ways to articulate just how stunning and disappointing the 2023 Mets have become.
"It's literally incredible. It's like the Mets can't have anything," Keith said. "They just find ways to lose and crush their fans."
Steve Cohen recently told reporters that he would not add at the trade deadline if the Mets didn't improve their playoff outlook by the deadline, but Keith says they shouldn't wait around. The Mets should hit the refresh button, and they should do it now.
"This is a sad scene," Keith said. "If you go to your Major League Baseball standings and hit refresh, I don't know. If I'm Steve Cohen, I'm not waiting for the deadline. I'm not waiting for these guys to pick it up. They can't pick it up.
"I'd blow it up right now. I'd start selling, start moving some pieces, start moving guys away."
