Keith: Mets are 'kings of New York' right now, not going anywhere
Keith was on the air as the Mets finished off a walk-off win against the rival Braves on Thursday night for their fourth straight victory, and he says the team in Queens is currently the team of New York.
"Yes, they are the kings of New York right now," Keith said. "Deal with it. Yes, they are the better team right now. Deal with it.
"You have a season…there is no wait and see anymore."
The Mets spanked the rival Yankees in four games this season, and are on the rise while the Yanks have been scuffling for nearly two months. It's time to take the Mets seriously, and realize that they are capable of being more than just a pleasant surprise in 2024.
"You can see this. This is real. This is tangible," Keith said. "These Mets are real. Five days from the deadline, I expect them to add, and I expect David Stearns to flex his baseball muscles.
"For the Mets fans that punted on the team, it's okay to come back…you're looking at a lineup that can hit. A starting rotation that has been more than serviceable. And now, you're looking at a bullpen that you can count on."
