Keith: These Mets are for real - doubt them at your own peril
The Mets completed a sweep of the Nationals on Thursday, a victory that moved them into a tie for the final Wild Card spot and put New York two games above .500 for the first time since they were 13-11 on the season.
With their latest win, Keith says it's time to buy into these Mets, echoing the message Brandon Nimmo has been sending in interviews with the media, as he once again discussed wanting the team to be buyers at the trade deadline after the win at Citi Field.
"He says 'we want to be buyers at the end of this month and we think we're a great team,'" Keith said. "Who are we to say that we don't?
"If you want to be a hater, be a hater. If you want to deny, go ahead and deny. If you want to short-change them and say 'it's only a month and a half,' okay, but that's weirdo energy."
The Mets have completely turned their season around, as the lineup is looking much longer and more dangerous, even with Pete Alonso still not breaking out just yet. The starting rotation has multiple quality arms, and with an improved bullpen, who knows how far the Mets can ride this run?
"This is one of the Mets' best runs of all time. You gotta enjoy it," Keith said. "I'm enjoying watching them play because I'm a baseball fan."
