Kodai Senga left Thursday’s rubber game between the Mets and Nationals during the sixth inning after appearing to injure his hamstring covering first base.
Senga went to cover first base on a CJ Abrams grounder to first when Pete Alonso threw a little high, forcing Senga to jump – and as he came down on the bag, he appeared to somehow tweak something in the back of his right leg.

He was able to leave under his own power, and his 5 2/3 scoreless innings lowered his ERA to 1.47 while keeping him in line for his seventh win of the season.
The Japanese righty is having a strong year after missing almost all of 2024 due to shoulder and calf injuries, pitching to that 1.47 ERA in 73 2/3 innings.
The Mets recently moved Paul Blackburn back to the bullpen – he threw four innings on Sunday – and have both Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas on the rehab trail, but losing their ace for any length of is not what the team is hoping for.
