Marcus Stroman day-to-day after MRI comes back clean

The Mets, in desperate need of a break from bad injury news, caught one on Wednesday when an MRI on Marcus Stroman's sore hip came back clean.

The team said the righty is day-to-day, but it looks like he will avoid an IL stint, which is huge for a rotation that is down Joey Lucchesi, Noah Syndergaard and Carlos Carrasco, while the bullpen lost Robert Gsellman to a lat tear this week as well.

Stroman was pulled from his start on Tuesday night in the second inning when he grimaced after throwing a pitch, and began trying to stretch out his hip. Manager Luis Rojas told reporters after the game that Stroman didn't want to come out, but they decided to be cautious.

Stroman tweeted out Wednesday morning that "everything's gonna be okay," calming the nerves of Mets fans who don't want to see a rotation without one of its best arms, as Stroman is having a career year with a 2.32 ERA in 15 starts.
