Marcus Stroman's celebrations made Gio even angrier about Mets loss

Gio was particularly furious with Wednesday’s Mets loss, mainly because he had to watch Marcus Stroman get revenge on his former team and make sure to celebrate nearly every out along the way.

“This one was one I wanted,” Gio said. “I can’t stand Marcus Stroman…I think he is a total jerk, he’s someone I actually supported for a number of months, and even years before he became a Met, because he went to a rival high school...loved the fact he made it all the way to the majors.

“Then one time, after a bad start, after Boomer and I criticized him, he blocked us and ran away, and I’m like, ‘This guy is just the pits.’ Then he’s part of the whole Baez thing with Lindor and hating the fans, and he’s just a jerk.”

Stroman tossed eight innings and allowed just two runs, and seemed to gesture towards the Mets dugout and say some words after an inning-ending double play. It made the loss all the more painful for Gio.

“When he’s out there pitching as well as he is last night, and he’s doing these antics and histrionics on the mound, it’s pissing me off,” Gio said. “All I wanted was this lineup to crush him…and he’s having a spectacular night, gyrating and slapping his chest. That’s what pissed me off the most last night.”
