Mets' Brandon Nimmo dealing with sore left shoulder

The Mets were rained out Thursday night, but if they had played, Brandon Nimmo would not have been in the starting lineup due to a sore left shoulder.

Manager Luis Rojas told the media that Nimmo hurt his shoulder making a diving catch in Game 1 of Wednesday's doubleheader of Milwaukee. He entered Game 2 Wednesday as a pinch-hitter, and Rojas said he also would've been available off the bench on Thursday.

"We were tentative to start him because of that," Rojas said. "But right now he actually went through the treatment and he went through pregame stuff here indoors and he feels really good."

No testing was done or was planned, but Nimmo wasn't feeling 100 percent, and the team is hopeful he'll be able to be back in the lineup Friday night (weather permitting) or Saturday.

"He felt something there as far as a contusion or a hit, but it's nothing," Rojas said. "He's able to swing, he's able to come off the bench and play for us if we need it at some point in the game."

Nimmo has slashed .364/.391/.455 in six games since returning from the injured list, after missing two months due to a finger injury.
