When the Mets open up their weekend series against the Mariners on Friday night, they will reportedly do so with hyped prospect Ronny Mauricio in tow.
According to multiple reports, Mauricio is set to make his anticipated big league debut at Citi Field this weekend, as New York continues its youth movement that also included the return of Brett Baty, who struggled in the majors earlier this season as the everyday third baseman before being sent down.
Mauricio has thrived at Triple-A this season while handling multiple positions, batting .292 with an .852 OPS and 23 home runs in 116 games with Syracuse.
The 22-year-old has played third base, shortstop, second base, and outfield this year.
