The Mets lost touted prospect Brett Baty to a thumb injury, but they are reportedly now calling up another top phenom.
According to Jon Heyman, New York is calling up infield prospect Mark Vientos, the 22-year-old who has been tearing up Triple-A over the past six weeks.
Vientos, in his last 35 games with Syracuse, is slashing .326/.393/.556 with eight home runs.
The 2017 second-round pick is the team's seventh-ranked prospect, per MLB.com, and will look to help spark an offense that has struggled to generate runs of late, losing their grasp on first place to the defending champion Braves after a loss to the Marlins on Friday night.
