Many Mets fans are concerned that the team is going to use 2024 as a rebuilding year, but Keith isn't ready to count out Steve Cohen just yet.
With New York's hyped youngsters, and core contributors in Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor still around, all it takes is a couple big-name free agents to drastically shift the outlook of next season.
"He's got the coins where he can put a couple players with the players you already have signed," Keith said. "It might not be some 40-year-old pitchers. Good, that didn't work."
The Mets have not hid their objective to replenish the farm system and build the organization towards more sustained success, but with the kind of money Cohen has at his disposal, nothing can be ruled out in the interim.
"This guy is throwing millions of dollars away, flushing hundreds of millions of dollars for players to leave," Keith said. "I can't imagine having that kind of money. How do you even exist? I wouldn't even know how to life my life. That's a superpower, being that rich.
"I'd have to outdo myself every day. I'd have to do something extravagant every single day."
