Carlos Carrasco’s season is all but over, as he will be out 4-6 weeks with a fractured finger that stemmed from an accident in the weight room.
Mets manager Buck Showalter told reporters on Tuesday that the righty suffered the injury after a 50-pound dumbbell fell on his finger, and a pin has been inserted to help with the healing process.
Carrasco has already missed significant time this season with an elbow injury, and has struggled mightily when healthy, pitching to a 6.80 ERA in 90 innings after New York picked up a $14 million option on the veteran starter.
The Mets were planning to move Carrasco to the bullpen after he cleared waivers, but his season is now over instead.
