Evan sees Mets season ending with quick playoff exit or a run fans will never forget
Evan was just coming down from the euphoria of the Mets’ greatest regular season win in franchise history to open Tuesday’s show, and that opened the door to ask the question:
“Now what?”
As New York gets set to begin its Wild Card Series against the Brewers, Evan gauged his feelings on the team’s October outlook, and he has settled on the consensus that it will either end in a playoff whimper, or a postseason magic that makes 2024 an all-time season.
“Last night, and even this morning, I had a relaxed, happy feeling on my face. But now my game face is on. It’s no longer about celebrating the greatest regular season win in Mets history. Now it’s about business, and business is about to begin in city the Milwaukee, where the Mets can go on a run that we’ll never forget,” Evan said.
“My feeling right now...I believe one of two things are gonna happen. Either the Mets are gonna get wept, lose two straight to the Brewers...or they’re gonna continue this ride, beat the Brewers, and nobody is gonna stop them. This is gonna be a run that extends deep into October.”
The Mets certainly can go on a deep run, as the Rangers, Diamondbacks, and Phillies have all proven in recent years, and they have the sturdy rotation and star power in the lineup in Francisco Lindor to get it done. Perhaps it can happen. It if doesn’t Evan believes the season will end in Milwaukee. But, if the Mets get past the Brewers, watch out.
“I really have this all-or-nothing feel about this team right now,” Tiki said. “Either they lose quickly and we debate all offseason how we felt about the year...and we’re gonna talk about free agency, or 2024 is gonna be a year that none of us will ever forget, because they’re gonna go on a Texas Ranger, epic kind of run...I don’t see a middle ground.”
