The Citi Field crowd was rocking to start a winner-take-all game three of the Wild Card Series on Sunday night, but it wasn't a full house.
The Mets, after falling behind 6-0 and the home crowd had long been hushed by Joe Musgrove and company, announced an attendance of 39,241 fans in attendance, not a sellout and the smallest crowd of the weekend in Queens.
Many on Twitter noted the empty seats in the upper deck during the decisive game three, and while the fans that did buy a ticket made their presence known in the early stages of the night, it was puzzling that a New York team didn't fill the stadium in an elimination game after a 101-win season.
The lack of attendance down the stretch of the regular season was noted on the Tiki and Tierney show, and the lack of sellouts continued into the playoffs, at least for the pivotal game three.
