Edwin Diaz was asked to record a six-out save for the first time in his career on Thursday night, and nobody seemed as surprise as teammate Taijuan Walker.
After Diaz breezed through the heart of the Braves order in the top of the eighth, cameras on the SNY broadcast caught Walker watching Diaz disappear down the dugout steps and into the tunnel, and he motioned to someone on the other end of the dugout, presumably pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, appearing to ask if Diaz was done for the night.
When Walker got the response that Diaz was in fact not done, the reaction was hysterical, and golden GIF material.
It also worked out for the Mets, as Diaz shut the door and New York took the opener of a huge five-game set with the second-place Braves.
