Carlos Correa is off the board, but the Mets are reportedly still in the hunt for a much-needed bat to improve their lineup.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, not only was New York exploring the market for Correa, but the team is also keeping an eye on J.D.
Martinez and exploring a potential reunion with Michael Conforto.

Per The Athletic, Mets owner Steve Cohen, even after his historic spending spree this winter, believes the team still needs more offensive help.
Based on last year’s output, the team could certainly use a boost in the power department.

Martinez, 35, was an All-Star for the second straight season in 2022, though his power output dipped noticeably from 2021, hitting 16 home runs compared to 28 the season before. But he still posted a .790 OPS while hitting .274 in 139 games, all as a DH.

Martinez led the league in doubles in 2021 with 42, and hit 43 last year.

Conforto, 29, battled injuries in 2021 and was limited to 125 games, batting just .232 after hitting .322 in the shortened 2020 season. He missed all of last season after suffering a shoulder injury while working out for teams last spring.
