The Mets announced Friday night, while Max Scherzer was being outdueled by Yu Darvish, that they had acquired Pirates first baseman Daniel Vogelbach for reliever Colin Holderman.
Vogelbach brings some needed pop to the New York lineup, and while his 12 home runs don't jump off the stat sheet, the underlying numbers are impressive, as is his ability to draw walks.
Still, the general consensus seemed to be one of disappointment from Mets fans upon responding to the announcement, with many frustrated that New York gave up a pitcher in Holderman who holds a 2.04 ERA on the season.
Why would you weaken pen for a just OK player? WHY????

Vogelbach isn't an upgrade from Smith or Davis

Tell Billy to make a trade that helps the team . JD Davis> Vogelbach. Holderman was essential to this team.
