The anticipation at Citi Field was at an all-time high on Friday, as the retooled Mets prepared for their home opener, and with the unveiling of the new Tom Seaver statue outside of the stadium, morale is sky high.
But reports of positive COVID-19 cases for Brandon Nimmo and Mark Canha put a damper on things, and then the appearance of Brodie Van Wagenen.
The former general manager was inside Citi Field as the Mets prepared for their first home game of the 2022 season, and fans on Twitter were quick to voice their displeasure, as the sight of Van Wagenen brought back memories of the Robinson Cano trade, signing Jed Lowrie, and so on.
