Many Mets fans are wishing for their normal SNY broadcast after a couple confusing sequences on the national telecast during Saturday's game two action against the Padres.
Early in the game, a ground ball to Francisco Lindor led to ESPN play-by-play announcer Karl Ravech refer to the Mets shortstop as "Reyes," confusing Lindor for former New York shortstop Jose Reyes, who hasn't played since 2018.
Later in the game, as Jacob deGrom's pitch count began to climb, the booth pondered whether Mets closer Edwin Diaz would be able to go four innings of relief in a must-win game, which of course would be a bit of an ask considering Diaz hasn't pitched more than two innings in an appearance so far this season.
Needless to say, it wasn't well received by Mets fans watching the game.
When Diaz did come into the game for the top of the seventh, ESPN cut to commercial, leading to more anger from Mets fans who wanted to hear the iconic entrance with Timmy Trumpet's "Narcos" playing in Citi Field. They did play a brief clip of it when they returned from the commercial break.
