Francisco Lindor went hitless in four at-bats in the Mets' 4-1 loss to the Nationals on Wednesday, the team's fourth loss in a row.
During that skid, Lindor has just two hits in 16 at-bats, and over his last 16 games, is batting an even .200 with 20 strikeouts.
Lindor acknowledged that he and the Mets have been facing some tough, young pitching of late, but puts the onus on himself for his current slump.
"I'm getting my pitches and I'm missing them," Lindor said. "I've definitely got to be better. I personally feel like I have to do better, but it's part of the game. As a professional, I definitely need to do better."
Lindor's slumps aren't nearly as brutal as others, considering his steady glove in the infield and his ability to get on base even when he isn't hitting, as his 110 OPS+ puts him 10 percent above league average on the season. Still, Lindor is expected to be a star in the middle of the New York lineup, and while he has struggled, so has the team.
"This is one of those stretches," Lindor said. "We have been a group that has been able to turn the page extremely quick. Learn from today, turn the page as soon as we go back to our families."
