Francisco Lindor provides quick demonstration to show that injured toe isn't an issue

Francisco Lindor went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts for the second straight game on Wednesday night, and he has now gone hitless in his last three contests, all Mets losses.

Over his last nine games, a span of 39 plate appearances, the Mets shortstop is hitting just .143 with a miserable .431 OPS, logging four walks against 10 strikeouts in that stretch.

Asked after the game how his broken pinky toe is doing, as some wonder if his injury is related to his recent slump, Lindor jokingly provided a demonstration for reporters to show that his toe is feeling just fine.

Right after being asked about the toe, Lindor jumped up and down in place a couple times while surrounded by microphones, then simply said, “I’m good.”

Lindor did not brush off the question about the team’s struggles during its five-game losing streak, as the veteran made it clear that the focus should start with him when discussing the team-wide slump.

“At the end of the day,” Lindor said. “It's tough to win games when your leadoff guy is not getting on base,” referencing himself, the team’s leadoff hitter who is hitting just .224 with a .676 OPS in the month of June.

Lindor was hit by a pitch earlier this month, breaking his pinky toe. He had been told the injury can’t be made worse by playing through it, but there is a pain tolerance aspect to it, though he insists that it isn’t impacting his play. Still, he is undeniably slumping right now, as is the team, which will look to avoid an all-too-familiar sweep in Atlanta when the two teams face off again in Thursday’s series finale.
