The Mets seem to be circling the outfield depth market, as reports surfaced on Wednesday that New York had interest in Andrew McCutchen as a potential fourth outfielder. But now that McCutchen is returning to Pittsburgh, the Mets are reportedly looking elsewhere.
Later on Wednesday, SNY’s Andy Martino reported on Mets Hot Stove that the team also has interest in Adam Duvall and Trey Mancini, and that both are “on their radar.” MLB insider Jon Heyman reported on Friday that New York is also looking into Jurickson Profar, Tommy Pham, and perhaps a reunion with Tyler Naquin.
Mancini, now a World Series champ, hit .239 with 18 home runs last season, played between Houston and Baltimore. He hit at least 24 home runs for three straight years from 2017 to 2019, peaking with 35 bombs in 2019, but missed 2020 as he battled, and eventually beat, colon cancer.
Mancini has played first base as well as outfield throughout his career.
As for Duvall, also a World Series champ after winning with the Braves in 2021, he hit .213 with 12 home runs last season, though he was limited to just 86 games. In 2021, he hit 38 home runs while leading the league with 113 RBI.
Profar, who has played infield as well in his career, hit .243 with 15 home runs with the Padres last season, playing in a career-high 152 games. Pham posted similar numbers in 2022 between the Red Sox and Reds, batting .236 with 17 home runs across 144 games.
