As the Mets make their push for Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Gio says Steve Cohen and company are already playing from behind.
"I am a self-aware Mets fan," Gio said. "You gotta understand when you are someone coming over from Japan, and the Mets are in front of you as well as the Yankees and the Dodgers, the brand can't compete with those two."
Still, that doesn't mean the Mets don't have a way to pry Yamamoto away from the Yanks and/or Dodgers, since they still have a valuable resource, should Cohen elect to use it.
"The thing the Mets have to sell is the future of the team…and they're gonna have to have the highest bid," Gio said. "All things equal, there's not a single person who's gonna go Mets over those two. If the money is equal, they're not."
