The Mets have placed Juan Soto on the 10-day IL with a right calf strain, retroactive to April 4.
New York's superstar outfielder came up lame while advancing from first to third on a Bo Bichette single in the first inning of Friday night's game against the Giants. Soto was removed from the game with what the team called right calf tightness.
Per the team's release announcing the move on Monday, the typical recovery time for Soto's injury is 2-3 weeks.
In a corresponding move, the Mets have called up Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse.
The struggling Carson Benge represents one of the only fully healthy Mets outfielders still on the roster, as Brett Baty has missed time with a thumb injury and Jorge Polanco, who could have been a candidate to spend time in the outfield in Soto's absence, has been dealing with an Achilles issue that has limited him to mainly DH duty of late.
Soto had been off to a strong start after his MVP-caliber season in 2025. In 31 at-bats, the 27-year-old is batting .355 with a home run and a .928 OPS.
