Have the Mets found their good luck charm to overcome their recent offensive struggles?
During Thursday's win over the Nationals, a giant Brandon Nimmo gnome was looking on from the dugout, and the gnome statue had a collection of items at its base, including a portrait of Pete Alonso that Eduardo Escobar placed there before the game.
The gnome had been in front of Nimmo's locker, but Luis Guillorme brought it into the dugout, and players left sunflower seeds and bubblegum at its feet, perhaps as an offering to help wake up the bats.
It must have worked, as New York finally broke out with nine runs in a win over the Nationals after scoring just one run over its last two games.
Given the offensive awakening, the Brandon NimGnome will likely be making more appearances from here on out.
