NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The Mets and Marvel Entertainment are joining forces for a special two-day promotion, inviting fans to receive a one-of-a-kind comic book and exclusive bobblehead of Mets slugger Pete Alonso next week, the team announced Wednesday.
The "Polar Bear" will be "transformed" into a superhero, getting his very own bobblehead and origin story in a unique Marvel comic book.
The first 15,000 fans who show up for the Thursday, Aug. 12 game at Citi Field can snag the comic book ahead of the matchup against the Washington Nationals.
On Friday, Aug. 13, the first 25,000 fans who come to see the Mets take on the Los Angeles Dodgers will get their hands on the collector’s item bobblehead.
“This comic book and bobblehead are super cool,” Alonso said. “I’ve loved everything Marvel since I was a kid. It was awesome to see myself as a superhero and I can’t wait for Mets fans to get their hands on these, they’re going to love them.”
This opportunity is not the first time Mets fans scored some Marvel exclusives. Some previous giveaways include a unique Spider-Man bobblehead design in the Mets’ team colors, along with two Noah Syndergaard bobbleheads and a t-shirt that compared his resemblance to Thor.
Tickets to lock in the latest exclusives are available now at Mets.com/Tickets.
